Bethany Allen

owner/operator

Bethany started farming in the Boston area in 2008 and quickly moved to Maine for the real deal.  Before starting Harvest Tide, she apprenticed and managed vegetable operations in the MidCoast area, milked cows on large and small dairies, slaughtered turkeys for many Thanksgivings, and sold seeds to farmers all over the country. She has been deeply rooted in Maine agriculture for almost 15 years.

In the little free-time not spent farming or “moming,” she likes to daydream about gardening, identify native plants, read romance novels, and volunteer for progressive causes. She has been on the board of the Bowdoinham Food Pantry since 2020.

Katiana Selens

crew Lead

Katiana started her farming journey on a small urban farm in Boston where she grew “culturally relevant” veggies for the local community. In short order, she moved to a rural town in Pennsylvania to try her hand at working on an orchard/organic vegetable farm. Katiana soon found her heart delighted in caring for people and vegetables the most. After working as a special education teacher for three years, Katiana has joined the Harvest Tide Team. Out in the fields her favorite jobs are planting on the water wheel and working on bulk harvests. Now in her second season on the farm Katiana leads harvests and planting projects in the fields and greenhouses. Outside of farming Katiana enjoys knitting, cooking and hanging out with her bunny Esther.
